Blah Blah Blah

Sasha got her progress report yesterday. Her grades were great but, under "Areas of Concern", there was one box marked:

Stranger Danger

We were at Target today and we got to the frozen food section where a man was working on the freezer. Of course, Sasha was very curious about what he was doing and I said simply, "He's working on the freezer." Well, I should have known that didn't answer her question. So she just started talking to the guy. She said, "So you are fixing the wires that take the 'tectity' to the refrigerator that makes it cold?" The guy just started laughing and said, "Yeah".

And the worst part is that as I was pushing the cart away and dragging Sasha out of the poor man's way, Eliana was BLOWING HIM KISSES!

Oh, Daddy, you just don't even know what you are in for!

Just not what they used to be

For some reason Matt wanted to go to the big FAIR tonight. Sasha had a blast. I had fun watching her and watching all of the other "people" there. Eliana was just so amazed by all the action. Oh, and Matt found the beer tent. So we all had fun.

I played a silly game with Eliana so she could win a cheap Elmo pillow. Well, she decided she didn't Elmo and chose Ernie instead. She played for a while with it and then we walked by a trashcan. She walked right over and threw the Ernie pillow in it. I can't blame her though, because as soon as we got home, that's where he was going to go anyway.

In the petting zoo, a mommy kangaroo was sleeping with her baby in her pouch. The baby was teeny tiny.

Those Eyes and That Hair

These are the comments Eliana gets all the time.

What's wrong with this picture?

This is the big sofa. I ALWAYS get the big sofa. I always get the big sofa unless my boys want it.

We're country

It's a Britney Spears reference. I think she said, "I'm country," when she was pulled over with her son in her lap. Anyway, check out Florida Country! Sasha has camoflage rainboots on with her princess dress and tiara. Eliana is not wearing pants. You should see my tan (i.e. burn) lines from the tank top I wore today!

"I look like a GENIUS!"

Sasha's Didi made this dress for her and today was the first day we wore it. She wanted to wear it when were in PA a few weeks ago. The high was in the 40's.

She put it on this morning, it was 88 today, and came prancing downstairs so Matt and I could see her. We both told her how beautiful she looked. As she was running back upstairs to find shoes, she said, "I know, I look....just like a genius!"

Update on Murray

Not good. So he really needs your positive thoughts. He has advanced liver disease. The vet doesn't have any idea how it happened to such a young dog, "who has been so well-taken care of". The only thing we can do for him is give him some egg yolks (which he devours) and supplements to support his liver function. Well, we could take him to the internist every week, anesthetize him, and hook up an IV to his jugular for 8 hours. Sorry. I love my dog too much to put him through that. Even our regular vet said he wouldn't subject his dog to that.

Our vet has never seen this condition, nor has the specialist he spoke with this morning, in such a young dog. I'm furious that this wasn't discovered sooner. I realize it is uncommon for such a young dog to have it so why would they look for it? Why my Murray? Why MY dog? I started taking him to the vet in September because of all of the problems he was having. He wasn't diagnosed with diabetes until January. I just wonder if we would have caught it sooner....

Coulda, woulda, shoulda right?

Well, Matt has always said that they broke the maltese mold with Murray. The specialist is giving him 6-8 months at best. And here we were thinking we would have another good 6-8 YEARS with him. Let's just hope Murray continues to break the mold. In the meantime, I will love him as much as I possibly can.

Beggers CAN BE Choosers

I have Aflac (the neighborhood duck) eating out of my hand, now. He sure is a picky eater, though. He does not like puffed rice cereal or Gerber Puffs. He likes Challah bread but not the crust thankyouverymuch. He takes what he doesn't like in his bill and throws it to the side.

Bathing Beauty

We were supposed to have our first "Bubble Babies" class on Monday night. Since Eliana was sick, we skipped it so our first class was tonight. She didn't like putting her face in the water at first but towards the end, she tolerated it.

She's a great little kicker! She doesn't quite have the hang of strokes, though, because it looked like she was dancing on my lap, kind of like Axel Rose.

I swear, I did not make her pose like this.

There is a first time for everything.

Eliana is on her first round of antibiotics. I guess we should be thankful that we've gone this long without them. One of the many benefits of living in Florida, I guess.

She was NOT happy about going to the doctor today. This was the first time for that too. Usually, it is an adventure for her but this time, as soon as we put her on the scale, she started crying. When the doctor came in and started poking around, Eliana gave her dirty looks, pushed her hands away and kept signing "help". Unfortunately for her, it only got her laughs from Dr. R and I.

So wish me luck giving this kid the antibiotics for 10 days. Her first dose did not go over very well.

Sooooooo Big!

She can almost reach the pedals! I can't believe that Sasha used to fit on this bike.

My Helper

Eliana's carseat is disgusting and I will spare you the details. I was trying to get the DAMN cover off to clean it the other day. Murray thought he'd give me a hand. He did clean out all the old snacks for me.

Sooooo...if you are the praying type, Murray needs some prayers or just general good wishes. He's one sick little guy. In addition to his twice daily insulin shots and daily liver pills, he's now on a month's worth of antibiotics for a skin infection that just won't go away. It's so bad on his paws that it hurts for him to walk. Next week, he'll be going to the vet for an ultrasound on his liver. I really really want him to get better because he's my baby!

How did I get so old?

Eliana and I took a walk yesterday morning and we stopped by to see Aflac, the neighborhood duck. Just as we arrived, the nice older gentleman who feeds him pulled up. So, we stayed to watch him eat.

Well, apparently Aflac has found a girlfriend. She's a mallard duck, a duck interracial relationship! Anyway, she wasn't happy about something and she flew to the pond across the street. Aflac didn't want his girl out of his sight but he can't fly so he started to walk across the street.

Wouldn't you know that as he is crossing I see a speeding car coming down the road. FYI the speed limit is 25mph. I ran out into the street (Ellie was safely in her stroller on the sdiewalk) shaking my fist and yelling at her, "You're driving too fast!!!". She missed Aflac by a hair and I stopped short of calling her a "young whippersnapper".

I'm sorry

To anyone who was on our flight yesterday from Baltimore to Orlando, I apologize for Eliana's behavior! She was whiny. I was tired.

I SWEAR that this is the first time she's acted like this on a flight and she's more travelled than many adults!

I bet you got a good laugh though, when she tried to head butt and got me in the softest part of my chest. So she then picked up the magnadoodle and hit herself in the head with that.

I can't guarantee that it won't happen again so please, if you see us on your next flight, RUN. RUN FAR FAR AWAY! Wink Wink.
