Eliana has started showing a little bit of an attitude lately. She is a big fan of throwing things on the floor. Unfortunately, she also likes to throw things at Sasha in the car. I'm glad I don't have to sit in the back seat with her! Poor thing, it really shows when she wants her bottle but her mean Mommy is only giving her 2 bottles a day (naptime and bedtime).
Last night, we had to hide to our bedroom because of bad thunderstorms. Eliana loves to open my cabinets in the bathroom and pull out all the (child-proof) bottles. I jokingly growled, "Eliana Rebekah! Get out of there!" She, not so jokingly, growled right back at me and continued pulling out the bottles.
Like her sister, she is lucky that she's cute.

AND popsicles!
What Happens
Lollipops and Cookies...oh my!
Sasha has strep throat again. I should have known yesterday. She didn't eat ANY of her mac-n-cheese at lunch. Then we came home from lunch and she went straight into our room and LAID IN BED for 2 hours watching TV. She didn't get out of bed to jump around or even to come out and ask for a snack. I know! Shocking!
I called the doc first thing this morning and they got us in right away. So then we had to go pick up her medicine and since we needed groceries, I took it to the pharmacy there. They also give out free cookies. So we all had a cookie (well, I shared mine with Eliana). When we picked up the medicine, they had a jar of lollipops with a Root Beer one right on top. I had to have one but I couldn't eat it in front of Sasha, because that would be just rude. She had one too.
Eliana stole mine. She has a death grip let me tell you. I finally had to take it from her (I was afraid it was going to come off the stick) and bite it off.
So far this morning, my kids have had cookies and lollipops and Sasha has been watching television for 2 hours. It's the only way I can get her to eat (and you know she's a good eater) and for her to sit still!

NEWSFLASH!!!!!!
My...I mean OUR $37 Florida snowman is ON DISLPLAY in a glass case at Sasha's school.
Oh yes it is, I saw it with my own eyes.
SNAP!! In case you have forgotten, behold the Beauty:

Aunt Laura! We need you!
What is it about cell phones?
Not only did my cell phone get dipped in the dog's water bowl this week, but so did their doggy toy cell phone! Murray had been playing with his cell phone and then took a break for a drink. She walked right over to his water dish while he was drinking and just dropped it in the bowl. Murray, our little waterholic, kept on drinking.
By the way, against all odds, my cell phone actually still works. I was worried when I first turned it on after the dip, the flash lit up and it just kept vibrating. But, I took it apart, dried it off, let it chill for a few hours and it's a good as new!
Again, short of building a moat around it, what can we do to block off the dog's water dish?
This is for the naysayers!
This is what you do when your 5-year-old needs help with her homework, dinner has to be prepared for your family AND your dogs (These are different dinners of course, but I'm sure it won't surprise you that my dogs' dinner requires more than just scooping out kibble), your baby is whining and hanging off your legs because she's tired since she only took a 1 hour nap, and you, THE MOMMY, are at your wit's end.
But you, THE MOMMY, can get it all done because YOU ARE A BABYWEARER! By the way, for those of you who are interested, this is a Kozy Mei Tai

It WAS a great idea until...
...little miss thang figured out how to climb up on the coffee table.
The coffee table WAS blocking the old television so she couldn't touch the buttons. She was a big fan of turning the tv off and on. She also liked to play with the "Touch Focus" button. Let me tell you we had THE BEST focused tv in the world. And then it went kaput. On....touch focus....off...on...off...on....touch focus....touch focus....
The new tv doesn't have buttons on the front but we still would rather she didn't play with it. And now, short of building a moat around it, what do we do?
By the way, you aren't losing your eyesight. There is a smudge on the picture because someone, and I'm not naming any names, someone was playing with the camera and LICKING it!
Almost....
We are so lucky.
Murray and Sasha helping her open the gift.
Modeling the dress
Eliana's birthmother knitted a dress for Eliana's birthday. She had mentioned it in her last letter but said it was taking her longer than she thought because she wanted it to be perfect.
We got the dress today. It's so cute. It doesn't fit our giant baby as a dress but sure will make a cute little shirt.
We are so lucky to have a birthmother like R.
Can you do that with your leg?
If Sasha is asking for something and I'm busy, I always tell her that if I were an octopus, I would have 8 arms and be able to do everything at one time and get her what she wants right away.
Last night, we were getting ready for bathtime and Sasha was going to the bathroom. Her job before bath is turn on the water so it warms up. She was sitting on the toilet when I heard her say, "I wish I had 8 legs so I could go to the bathroom and turn on the water at the same time".
Ok, I'm not quite sure that's what I would want but a way to fold the laundry a lot faster would be nice.

Dog Kevin
That's where dogs go when they die.
I was telling Sasha that our cleaning lady's dog got really sick and went to dog heaven. I wanted her to draw a nice picture for Susan to help cheer her up.
Sasha said, "Mommy where is dog kevin?" I thought for sure I misunderstood her. Say "dog heaven" very fast and it can sound like 'dog kevin'. So, I said, "Excuse me?". She said again, "Where is dog kevin?". I had to hear it one more time just to be sure and I guess Sasha thought I was nuts and she shouted, "I said WHERE!IS!DOG!KEVIN!?"
I told her that Dog Kevin is wherever dogs are happiest. I said that Susan's dog, Zoe's, Dog Kevin had whatever was special to her. I'm sure that our cocker spaniel, Duncan's, Dog Kevin has a lot of squirrels to chase and stuffed toys he can rip apart. Then of course she asked how the dogs could see the things they loved because they are dead and their eyes are closed.
I turned up the radio.

Those are not beans, they are lentils.
I know, lentils are beans too and well, they were really white kidney beans but apparantly Sasha hates beans now.
Sasha: Mommy, I can taste beans in my mouth.
Mommy: No, honey, you don't taste them because there are none in there.
Sasha: Look, there is one on my spoon.
Mommy: Oh, no, that's a lentil! It just looks like a bean. Try it, they are so good.
Sasha: (chewing the 'lentil' which was really a white kidney bean) Mmmmm...they are good.
Mommy: See I told you so.
I guess these would be considered "good lies" and if a mommy or daddy says one, it's ok. You know, these are the kind of lies we all need to hear. By the way, your butt does NOT look big in those jeans and eating carrots really does make your eyes more beautiful.
I think I was in high school when I found out the truth about my childhood hamster. He didn't really run under the door and run away. He died! Can you belive that? I had to mourn all over again. Poor Hammy. Here I am thinking he was living the L-I-F-E with all his outdoor friends and he was really in that great big hamster wheel in the sky.
So it's ok to lie.
So, it's ok to lie TO YOUR CHILDREN!

Speaking of Rock Stars
Matt and Pap got the royal treatment at the Daytona 500 yesterday.
They "worked" ;) in a customer care booth in the morning and watched the race from one of the Owner's Suites after. Even though Matt and I are not big race fans, I have to admit it sounds like they had a lot of fun and I probably would have enjoyed myself.

ROFLMAO
For those of you older than....25, you will enjoy this. For those of you older than 40, ROFLMAO means 'Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off' and you will enjoy this, too! (By the way, I didn't write this. It's one of those emails.)
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways... yadda, yadda, yadda.
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it.
But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today... you don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal.. that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen foreverAnd you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed.
Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on-screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on.
You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .. imagine that!
If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.
That's exactly what I'm talking about You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

It is a good idea but...
Did you think this was a duplicate post? Nope! So I bought a Snack Trap for Eliana. The lid is made so she can reach in and grab the snack but it won't spill. It won't spill until Eliana pulls off the lid with her teeth and pours the snack onto the floor. The dogs had fun cleaning up the Cheerios.

You've got the cutest little Babylegs!
I love Babylegs. It's been really warm here lately but it can get chilly hanging out on the tile in shorts. And, Ellie just looks so darn cute in them!

Weaning: Take 2 (not really)
Just when I thought we were in a routine, the past few days, Eliana has now decided that she doesn't really want to take a morning nap. She still wants her bottle but doesn't sleep. This means that by 10:45 she is one grouchy baby. I tried to give her lunch and she just wants to sit there and whine or, even better, play with her food (Murray is having a ball with this.) So we play this game for about 30 minutes, Murray gets a nice snack, and then we clean up.
Of course, then she is even more tired and just keeps making the sign for "milk". Milk, milk, milk, milk
A sippy cup doesn't work, even if I hold her and give it to her. So, we play this game for another 30 minutes. Then, I give in, give her another bottle and she takes her nap.
I'm sure once this drama ends, she'll start teething again.

The best invention EVER!
Thanks Mom (I guess) for telling me about the Keurig one cup coffee maker. I can make a coffee for myself, a hot chocolate for Sasha and tea for someone else in a matter of minutes! LOVE IT. I also bought myself a mini-frother so I can also make lattes and cappuccinos. They are good, too!
Sasha and I enjoying our morning brew!

What does 100 look like?
Today was the 100th day of school and the Kindergarten teachers thought it would be funny for the kids to dress as if they were 100 years old. Seriously. So last night at the 11th hour, Sasha and I came up with a costume.
This morning, I put her hair in a bun and put powder in it. Of course, when I picked her up today, everything was gone (powder, bun, sweater...) but she looked old this morning.

I love my friends!
I'll just sleep right here, thank you very much...
Eliana has been taking only one nap a day for a long time. Unfortunately, the nap that she chose to keep was her morning nap. Sometimes, she tricks me and makes me think that she is going to move to an afternoon nap. She skips her morning nap and continues playing. And then lunchtime (an early lunchtime at 11:00 to be exact) comes around and well...this is what happens:

So, we will just stick to our morning naps for now!
