This is a video from her acting class. It was recorded on a VHS tape so I taped it from our TV using the camcorder so the quality isn't great. It was just too funny and I couldn't wait to share it!

You can't tell your kids anything
Today when we were walking into acting camp, one of the other 4-year-olds was walking in behind us. He said, "Hi Sasha. You are a cute butt." I looked at his mother and she was mortified but then started laughing. The night before she had been telling her mother about Sasha being "cute as a button" and apparently her son misinterpreted! So you better be careful what you say.
More Acting Camp Stories
Yesterday, Sasha did a commercial for LuckyCharms. The children were supposed to pour themselves a bowl of cereal. Guess who poured 1/2 the box on the table? Yep. Sasha. So then she just stood there with her hands over her mouth laughing. The camera just kept rolling because she looked so cute.
Today they did a Toys R Us commercial and they were to bring in their favorite toy. She chose her Clifford stuffed animal. These were her lines:
My favorite toy store is Toys R Us. It's my favorite toy store
because it has my favorite toy. Clifford!
I'll always shop at Toys R Us because (music please)
I don't want to grow up. I'm a Toys R Us kid!
Sasha's lines:
My favorite toy store is Toys R Us. It's my favorite toy store
because it has my favorite toy. CLIFFORD!
He's 6 years old and he lives with me for a long long time.
And he's my best friend.
And then the teacher prompted her to finish her lines.

Acting!

Sasha started acting camp this week. The first thing she needed to learn was her "slate":
Hi! I'm Sasha. I'm 4-years-old and I'm with the Diamond agency.
Sasha's translation:
Hi! I'm Sasha. I'm 4earsol and I go to the Diamond seed.
But she looked really cute while saying it.
Today, the kids had to dress up in costume and talk about why they chose that outfit. One little girl was dressed as a kitty cat because "they are her favorite mammals and they hibernate." Sasha wore one of her princess dresses and while she was on camera, she kept playing with all the ruffles and didn't really answer any of her teacher's questions.
But she looked really cute while on camera.
Today they performed a commercial for Lays Potato chips. There was a lot of dialogue to remember and Sasha was adlibbing quite a bit while practicing last night. While filming the commercial, she needed a lot of prompts but she was very expressive while talking about her "topato chips". At the end, the children were supposed to reach into the bag and take one bite of one chip. Yes, you guessed it, Sasha kept eating chips out of the bag! Hey, that's good advertising if you ask me!

The person who designed this NEVER used it.
We went to the grocery store yesterday and as soon as we walked in the door, we came face to face with the RACE CAR grocery cart. *rolling my eyes* Sasha made a beeline for it and I didn't have the heart to say we couldn't use.
Have you ever "driven" one of these things? For those of you who know me well, you know that I am like a bull in a china shop on a daily basis. Imagine me pushing a grocery cart that doesn't steer very well down aisles of obstacles. Go ahead, laugh out loud because it was funny. I never noticed how many unnecessary displays are set up IN THE MIDDLE of seemingly EVERY aisle. Let's just say I rearranged quite a few displays.
Sasha, however, thoroughly enjoyed her trip. Click here for a picture.

Poor Daddy
Family pictures
Just beautiful.
Finally, we went to get family pictures taken today. Sasha is so beautiful, she outshines Matt and I in almost all the pictures, and that's just fine with us!
All of the pictures are here

Not a Good Idea
With Tropical Storm Alberto looming over the horizon, I wondered what I could do to keep a 4 year old occupied as the weather went wild outside. I remembered seeing a preview for the new movie Cars. Thinking like a teacher (and --as I hope--a good mommy), I let Sasha watch a few clips from the movie online. She seemed to really enjoy them, so thinking like a stir-crazy mom (and --as I hope--a creative one) I thought it would be a great idea to take Sasha to see her first movie in a theater.
Child Ticket: $5.50
Adult Matinee Ticket: $7.00
Popcorn and Soda: $9.45
Total: $21.95
Amount of time spent in theater: 45 minutes
I'm lucky it was that long. After the 15 minutes of previews (Why would they do that before a child's movie?), Sasha turned to me and said, "Mommy, I'm done." Fortunately the popcorn held her captive a little bit longer but we only got to see about 1/2 the movie. I can only guess how the middle and end turned out.
Ahhhh the joys of parenthood.

Where did the time go?

Sasha in October...just a few days after we brought her home.

Sasha a few days ago!
Can you believe it? Sasha has been with us for 8 months! It feels like she's always been here but I couldn't believe that it's been 8 months already!
I was going to wite something meaningful but I really don't know what to say. It's just like Sasha has always been with us. She has made us a true family. She has filled our lives with love and laughter. There are still days that I look at her and can't believe she's ours.
