I swore I would never be one of those mothers that you always hear screaming, "
If you don't stop, I'm going to....
If you don't stop, we're not going to....
If you don't stop, you can't....
If If If If If If...."
Well, I was tested last night. I have become obsessed with my favorite flavor of ice cream at the place just down the road. I would even consider going out in my pajamas (
GASP) to get a small dish of
Cake Batter Ice Cream with Rainbow Sprinkles. So, after dinner last night, I told Sasha that we could get some ice cream on the way home. As we were turning on the street that leads us to the ice cream place, she started whining. For some reason, she thought we were not going to get it. In a very 16 year old voice she yelled, "Where are you going? I want ice cream! I want ice cream! I want ice cream, Mommy!" Matt and I have been working very hard on teaching to ask for things politely and not DEMANDING! So, unfortunately, I had to tell her that I was on my way to get ice cream but because she wasn't using good manners, we were not going to get it. She cried and I wanted to cry right along with her.
Now I truly understand the meaning of the phrase, "This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you."
Oh, by the way, she used very good manners today and we did get ice cream tonight. No, I did not wear my pajamas.
