Weaning is for the Birds!!

So, if bottle weaning is for the birds, would breastfeeding weaning be for the boobs?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAHAAA

So apparantly, 12 months is the magic weaning month. I don't agree. Eliana doesn't agree either. We are down to just 3 bottles a day; morning nap, afternoon snack, and bedtime. I.just.can't.get.rid.of.any! She wants her bottle when she wants her bottle, damnit! She knows the sign for milk and uses it often during that magical bottle time throughout the day. I have tried giving her a sippy cup instead but she gives me grief. Oh boy does she give me grief!

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I would appreciate it if someone will please tell that to Eliana. Please.

The good news is that as of last night, she officially had her last bottle of the formula we lovingly call "Liquid Gold". Yes, the special formula she had to use was double, DOUBLE! the cost of all the others. We are now happily drinking Soy formula, which is exactly $15 cheaper, CHEAPER! than her Liquid Gold. I'm telling you, I'm in the wrong business. I need to get into the special dietary needs formula business.

What a fantastic feeling!!

We got a letter today from R! She wrote a short letter right after Eliana was born and then we got another few sentences in a Christmas card from her. When I sent our last update to her, I told her that we would love to hear from her.

I was so excited when I saw the envelope from our agency in the mailbox today.

She told us how she was doing and that she loves getting the pictures and letters from us. She loves that Eliana is destined to be a bookworm (R loves to read as much as I do). The letter was about 3 pages long and to protect her privacy, I don't want to share it all. I do have to share her closing, though:

I've never regretted the decision I made to place Eliana with you. I can't imagine any family more perfect for her than yours. God was truly paying attention the day I met you.

Wow, takes your breath away doesn't it?

This is for you Bobbi!

This is me with my BFF, Aunt Laura. We were working hard...or were we hardly working? ;)

I debated posting this picture...but it was just too cute.

Yep, that is Murray's rawhide bone. She was so kind to offer me a bite, too. I don't mind sharing food with her, but passed on this one.

This is what happens in Florida.

This is what happens in Florida when you don't have any snow to make a snowman. One of Sasha's school projects was to build a snowman. Well, I went to Michaels with her and we spent $37 on craft supplies to build the damn thing. I have to admit, though, she, Flower, is really cute.

Blogging Fun

So I've been tagged by Monogrammed Mom. Fun! It's my first tag in blogland and I'm so excited. Does that make me a Blog Geek? Probably, but I really don't care.

The rules once you have been tagged:

1. Link to the person that tagged you. CHECK
2. Post the rules on your blog. CHECK
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. SEE BELOW
4. Tag at least three other people at the end of your post and link to their blogs. CLOSE ENOUGH----SEE BELOW
5. Let each person know they been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. CHECK
6. Let the fun begin. CHECK

But...I don't think I'm quirky. Maybe I should have some of my family or friends complete this section for me.

1. OH!! OH!! OH!! Laura will agree. You DO NOT want to be with me when I am trying on jeans. Lord!!!! Seriously, I almost lost my BFF and my future husband taking them (at separate times) to find new jeans for me. You'll be happy to know, Laura and Matt, that I now have my favorite jeans and actually bought a pair on ebay WITHOUT TRYING THEM ON!!!!

2. I spend ridiculous amounts of time on the internet. Really. Oh come on, as if you didn't know that already. I'm sure you could tell by how often I update my blog. And, well, there is always some new blog check up on, a message board to read, or some new thing to purchase....ahem....does anyone have the Keurig or Tassimo Coffee maker?

3. I read obsessively. I just read while I was washing my face and brushing my teeth. I keep a magazine by my sink. It's true, I can do it!

4. I have to take a shower every day. I can't stand it when I don't shower! I have left the house without showering but usually only if I know I'll be back soon to shower. I LOVE to shower. I'm sure my mom will comment about using all the hot water in the house. In response to her, my comment is blah blah blah.....

5. I wear my hair in a pony tail EVERY DAY. I really try to leave it down but I always end up pulling it back. I'm not sure Eliana would know who I was if I wore my hair down.

6. I am so proud of myself, I actually beat Sasha's Hannah Montana video game! ;) It's a skateboarding game and I made it through all 4 levels. SNAP!

I'm tagging:
A Day in the Life.....(Because she's my cousin and I can Tag her if I want to!)
Where is Little Roo (Because she doesn't update enough and I want more pictures of her little cutie!)
I am only tagging two because...I said so.
Here I go:

He's not feeling well but he sure is having fun with Sasha and Eliana's new toy. Actually, he's spending more time in the Playhut then they are.

She is just so darn cute.

This made me laugh out loud.

Take a look at Hayden's face. Hayden, in case you couldn't figure it out, is the cat! The cutie-pie is my niece!

Star of my own Reality Show.

I have a hoodie (Who ever thought you'd be calling an article of clothing a "hoodie"?) that says "Star of my own Reality Show". I wear it proudly, when it gets cold enough in Florida, because lately, I'm beginning to feel like I am on the Truman Show. You know the movie, everybody but the main character, Truman, is aware they are on a reality show.

This is why I would make a good Reality Show subject (...subject of a Reality Show?) Or maybe I'm on Candid Camera....(Did you sing that phrase? I did while I typed it.)

Let's start with the 3, yes THREE, different kinds of milks we have in our refrigerator. Lactaid for Matt (he's lactose intolerant), Soy milk for Eliana (she's allergic to dairy--we think), organic milk for me and Sasha (it's just better for you).

Murray has just been diagnosed with diabetes. Poor baby but I will take good care of him. So my refrigerator is also home to his vials of insulin. Isn't vial an interesting word? Don't you wish you could say it more often? Anyway, I now have to give him 2 shots of insulin a day for.the.rest.of.his.life. He's only 7 so I hope to be giving them to him for a long time, unless of course he goes into remission. I don't know if you can do that when you have diabetes but it sounds nice to say. He's also on antibiotics twice a day and liver pills once a day for a month. He's also on Benedryl for itchy feet as needed. All 3 of my alarms are set daily on my cell phone.

Eliana has learned how fun it is to throw her food to the dogs. Of course, now Murray is on a strict diet and I'm pretty sure that pees/cheerios/bananas/dried fruit/etc. are NOT allowed.

These are currently on my kitchen counter:
2 bottles of wine (only one is open, in case you wondered)
syringes
2 prescription pill bottles
It looks like we are ready for one heck of a party.
formula
But I will be feeding my baby at the party.

Today, Dudley peed on the rug in the bathroom (I JUST washed it.). Murray peed on the tile by the front door (Much easier clean up and he has an excuse, i.e. diabetes, but still a PITA), and Eliana peed on the rug in the family room (no diaper because she has pretty bad diaper rash) and then her loosely attached diaper fell off and she peed in the new tent I just set up WITH 50 play balls. I washed off each ball, individually.

I can do almost anything with a giant baby attached to my legs. That's her favorite place to be right now, hugging my legs.

The past 9 out of 10 times I've put laundry in the dryer, I haven't turned it on. It is so annoying to go to fold the dry laundry only to find it's still wet!

Yesterday, I signed to Murray. (We're teaching Eliana Baby Signs.) Murray was chasing a lizard and it disappeared. I picked him up and said, "It's all gone," while showing him the sign for 'all gone'.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Help out a Mommy with a FANTASTIC idea.

Nickname

Eliana's nickname is Weapon of Mass Destruction!

And that's only half of the mess.

This was originally Eliana's mess but Sasha and Murray decided to join right on in. I'm not sure who had more fun.

He is most certainly my kind of dog!

One Year Stats

Eliana had her one year check up yesterday.

She is 29 3/4 inches long---75 %ile
She weighs 21.6 pounds----60 %ile (Probably 1/3 of that is in her feet.)
**She hasn't been eating well since 6 teeth decided to come through at the same time (hmmmm, maybe I should start teething) so I'm expecting that weight to go up quickly!**

Her head is in the 50 %ile. The nurse obviously didn't include her hair in that measurement! ;)

The doctor used the light to check her ears and then put the light down beside Eliana. Ellie picked it up and put it to her ear and then to the doctor's ear. Doctor R was amazed, "I can't believe she did that. That takes a lot of thought. I can't believe she just did that."

And then Doctor R told me that Eliana is ready for "2 step commands". I said, "Uh....ok". So today I told Ellie to change her poopy diaper and take the dirty one down to the garage. She didn't follow. Heck, I can't even get Matt to do 2-step commands. If my one-year-old can do multi-step commands before my husband, then I'm signing her up for the gifted program now.

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today, we brought our second beautiful daughter home. You never could have told me when we were trying to get pregnant that today, only 3 years after we started trying to conceive, we would have two amazing little girls.

I would go through every tear, every scream, every negative pregnancy test, every invasive procedure and every pelvic exam ;) again because it lead us to Sasha and Eliana.

Birthday Pictures and Videos

Due to her falling asleep on the way home from dinner, Eliana's First Birthday turned into a 2-day event.

Friday, January 04, 2008

It's her party and she'll sleep if she wants to!

We decided to go out to eat with friends. This is the rainbow over the restaurant! We think it was ordered just for Eliana's first birthday.

Waiting and waiting and waiting for our dinner...

I guess we won't be doing cake and presents tonight!

Obviously you can expect more pictures tomorrow!

Happy Birthday, Eliana!

I can't believe it.

Eliana turns 1 tomorrow (Friday, January 4). I just can't believe a year has gone by already.

This is her last picture as an 11 month old. It's her last picture not only because it was almost bedtime but because every time I get out the camera now, she makes a beeline for it.

You get to play with all of her toys.

I can't get enough...

... and just in case you can't either, here are more Christmas pictures from mom and dad's camera.

$#%@#$%@#%^#$%@#$#

#$%#@$^%#$#@$$%$^$%^ FIREWORKS!!!!
We had a "nice" dinner with another family and then came home. The kids were in bed. I was done with my work. Even though I really wanted to start a new book, I restrained myself and went to bed instead. I was asleep by 9:45.

I was asleep until the fireworks started at 10:30 and they went on and on and on.... Yehaw! This is what we do in Florida, I guess. It's warm, it's a holiday, why not play with explosives ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! I think I heard the last one around 1:00.

And I just went out to my car to get the camera and realized that MATT had left the @#$@#%@#$@#$%#$%#$% leftover Chinese food in my car ALL NIGHT LONG. Lovely.
Oh yeah, by the way HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

My New Year's Resolution will not be posted because you saw how well my 'Commit to Get Fit' campaign went. Feel free to post yours.
